Here I have some of the stuff I have recorded that deal with real instruments.
Most of it is just me and good ol' black beauty, my epiphone.
I am going to make all these downloadable as well, incase you would like to have them on your comp. Simply right click where it says "here" and download the file. |

MI Mashup:
So this is one of my songs, "believe," that I recorded the guitar and drum track for while I was in LA, then came home and recorded vocals, and Jessie Goergen sang on it as well. But while I was down there I had Grant Barnum, and Tobin Antpusat record some solos over the whole thing, just to have a good time. Let me preface this by saying that grant did his in one take for the whole song, only hearing it that time. I told him the chords of the song and hit record. Not saying that his is bad because it rocks, but just to let you know how much of a badass he is. Now Tobin I think went through it twice, so i chopped and screwed both of their solos and tried to make them fit together as best as possible. There is also a solo from me at the very end. So enjoy this little mashup from MI.

One Love EP:
Ok so here is the demo/EP that me and Jessie recorded this summer. I am going to give you the link a .zip file with all the songs in it, as well as give you each track to listen to on here. Please download these songs, listen to them, spread them around if you like them. And let me know what you think as well, I would love to know how they sound, what does not sound good, what does. There are a few parts that I know of that aren't perfect, but hey we recorded it all in one day at my tiny little studio, and I feel like it came out really really well. Anyway drop me a line at admin@jakebrattain.com, or on facebook or myspace.
(Just click on the link and it should automatically start the download, its a little less then 30MB)
The Truth Is...:
So track one is one that I wrote I did not have words for the bridge so Jessie wrote and sang that. And she did the harmonies on the chorus's.
No One/I'm Yours:
Since these songs are the same chords basically, and we thought it would be cool to put them together. It wasn't until after we figured the whole thing out that we realized even the words kinda have the same meaning which worked out really well. Alicia Keys/Jason Mraz if you did not know.
Believe:
So if you have looked around my site at all or even just this page at the top, you might somewhat recognize this song. But I can assure this is the final way it will sound from now on. I did all the music parts down in LA at MI when I was there this summer. I came back and put vocals on it, and Jessie wrote the second verse and then sang on the chorus's. I really enjoy this song so I hope you will as well.
All You Wanted:
This is a cover of Michelle Branch's song All You Wanted, I helped out filling out the chorus with some vocals, but Jessie really shines on this one in my opinion. We have done this song for a long time, and we feel we do a pretty good job on it, so we thought we would include on our little demo.
Empty:
This song we wrote like probably spring break ish this year. I had the guitar part floating around for awhile and I never knew what to do with it, I showed it to Jessie and Sam, and this is what came out. I think this song is awesome, Jessie is so impressive when it comes to writing words and melodies and what not. We felt that it was a fitting end to the demo

Jake & Sam Jams:
Alright these jams are from one late night up in the beat lab, with my main man sam brown. Now just to let you know Sam plays guitar 100% backwards. Right now you might be thinking, "like Jimi Hendrix!" wrong, he goes one step further, he plays a right handed guitar lefty, but also does not change the strings to orient them correctly. Basically he is a badass. Anyway, I miced up him playing acoustic, miced up my amp, and hit record a few times. I am pretty sure carlos santana came by at one point during the recordings, but I could be mistaken.

Interlude:
Alright I did this one in about an hour, well it took me like another hour to mix it how I wanted, but its just a little short guy. I was doing some jamming and just about done, when I accidentally played the first chord to this and thought it sound cool and went from there. I tried to make it a little creepy, and Jeff is always telling to make it quiet, then loud, so I did. Its not perfect, I only had one take on everything, but that is what demos are for right, just to see how it sounds, one day I will rerecord everything. Best heard through head phones, or good speakers, and loud of course, just my opinion! Enjoy!

Reggae Tech:
Just a little preview of a new song on the way.....

MagChamp:
Not a finished product but close.
MagChamp with Sam Brown Drumming:
Sam played drums on it sounds a lot better then with computer drums, I wish my recording setup allowed for more than two microphones, but I think this mix turned out pretty good.
