They Said You'd Be Coming

Home      Projects      Borderline

Borderline consist of Jessie Goergen (Vocals), Ryan LaThorpe (Bass), Andrew Goergen (Drums), and myself on guitar, most of these are just acoustic demos, but hopefully soon there will be better ones.

Borderline Demo:

Collection of some of newest recorded songs, a few live ones in there, hopefully soon we will have full band recordings.  Just click the link to begin the download.

Die Tonight:

Our newest creation.  Not much to say other than listen to it, I did all the music, and Jessie wrote all the lyrics and melodies.  I am a big fan of this song.

Insecurity:

Reggae style song, I played all instruments on this one, it is still missing a guitar solo, so be on the lookout for that.

Stuck:

Jessie wrote this one, she wrote the words and the major chord progressions. She told me basically how she wanted it to sound, and this is what I came up with, then of course Ryan threw down on the bass like always. There are definitely some mistakes on here, mostly recording errors, but I really feel like they are hard to notice, I only say this because  I have to qualify all my work for some reason, anyway, enjoy! and spread the word!

Japan:

I wrote this one, well the first verse and chorus, then Jessie wrote the second verse and the bridge.  It is not quite finished yet, Ryan will be coming by this weekend hopefully to play bass on it, but I am so stoked about it right now I have to put it up now.  So look for an update real soon!

One Love EP:

Ok so here is the demo/EP that me and Jessie recorded this summer (2009).  I am going to link a .zip file with all the songs in it, as well as give you each track to listen to on here.  Please download these songs, listen to them, spread them around if you like them.  And let me know what you think as well, I would love to know how they sound, what does not sound good, what does. There are a few parts that I know of that aren't perfect, but hey we recorded it all in one day at my tiny little studio, and I feel like it came out really really well. Anyway drop me a line at admin@jakebrattain.com, or on facebook or myspace.

Here is the .zip file of the whole thing: One Love EP
(Just click on the link and it should automatically start the download, its a little less then 30MB)

The Truth Is...:

So track one is one that I wrote I did not have words for the bridge so Jessie wrote and sang that.  And she did the harmonies on the chorus's.

No One/I'm Yours:

Since these songs are the same chords basically, and we thought it would be cool to put them together.  It wasn't until after we figured the whole thing out that we realized even the words kinda have the same meaning which worked out really well.  Alicia Keys/Jason Mraz if you did not know.

Believe:

So if you have looked around my site at all or even just this page at the top, you might somewhat recognize this song.  But I can assure this is the final way it will sound from now on.  I did all the music parts down in LA at MI when I was there this summer.  I came back and put vocals on it, and Jessie wrote the second verse and then sang on the chorus's.  I really enjoy this song so I hope you will as well.

All You Wanted:

This is a cover of Michelle Branch's song All You Wanted, I helped out filling out the chorus with some vocals, but Jessie really shines on this one in my opinion.  We have done this song for a long time, and we feel we do a pretty good job on it, so we thought we would include on our little demo.

Empty:

This song we wrote like probably spring break ish this year.  I had the guitar part floating around for awhile and I never knew what to do with it, I showed it to Jessie and Sam, and this is what came out.  I think this song is awesome, Jessie is so impressive when it comes to writing words and melodies and what not.  We felt that it was a fitting end to the demo
